The Dhoom Dhamaka Cruise has no shortage of fun activities aboard ship, as we’ve discussed in our previous blog. Today, we’ll show you what you can do when you go during one of our many shore excursions.
Shore excursions to do in…
Seattle, Washington
Of course you must visit the Space Needle. It’s Seattle’s most iconic landmark, and it affords visitors a spectacular view of the Cascades and Mount Rainier. You’ll also want to check out the Goldrush at the Klondike Museum, and so some shopping at Pike’s Place Market. Opened in 1907, the market has dozens of vendors selling food, crafts, and artwork. The Museum of Pop Culture is also worth a look. It showcases the history of pop music, sci-fi, fantasy, film, and television.
Juneau, Alaska
The state’s capital boasts a plethora of historical establishments to experience from old time saloons to shopping. It’s also the embarkation point for whale watching excursions in Auke Bay Harbo where you just might catch a glimpse of humpbacks, orcas, and sea lions. You’ll also have the chance to go on a dogsledding tour and live like a musher for a day. Or maybe you’ll try your hand at gold panning in Last Chance Basin.
Skagway, Alaska
Take a vintage railcar through White Pass, 2,885 feet above ground. It’s a leisurely way to kick back and take in the gorgeous Alaskan countryside. If you feel like stretching your legs, there’s lovely hiking trails through the temperate rainforest here. Do you enjoy seafood? Be sure to snag some king crab legs while you’re in the area – the seafood here is choice.
Dawes Glacier, Alaska
At 600 feet tall and half a mile wide, this imposing ice creation spans between two massive rock formations. Its characteristic blue-hued ice is best seen from a boat tour that brings you up close to the ice flows.
Victoria, British Columbia
Nothing is quite as British as tea and travelers in Victoria will definitely want to have a cuppa at the world famous Empress Hotel. This impressive structure is a testament to the city’s colonial heritage. There are scores of local First Nation artists here so be sure to look for their artwork at the local galleries. You’ll find interesting blends of traditional art and modern interpretations.
